Dr Katharina Metz

Katharina Metz joined PtX Lab Lausitz in February 2026 and is responsible for various interdisciplinary tasks for the management team.  

Prior to joining the PtX Lab Lausitz, Katharina worked as a communications expert at the ECO AI Lab (“KI-Ideenwerkstatt für Umweltschutz”), an initiative of the Federal Ministry for the Environment. Before that, she was editor and project manager at a communications agency, where she coordinated projects on a variety of topics. Among other responsibilities, she took on the role of editorial director for an international digital platform dedicated to sustainable urban development.

Katharina Metz received her doctorate in 2017 from Freie Universität Berlin at the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies. Her interdisciplinary dissertation analysed the various and competing meanings of the neologism “altruism” in the context of late nineteenth-century social reform in the US.
