Niyanta Shetye

Niyanta Shetye joined the PtX Lab Lausitz since March 2025. His focus is on policy research and consulting on emissions trading and international carbon markets. 

Before joining the Lusatian Lab, he worked as an academic employee for four years with the BTU Cottbus in the Chair of Public Law in particular, Environmental and Planning Law and Chair of Environmental Planning. His responsibilities involved teaching International Environmental Law, Measuring Sustainability, and conducting research. Furthermore, Niyanta also acquired, managed, and implemented DAAD funded research projects in Germany, Iraq, Cameroon, and South Africa. 

Born in Mumbai, India, Niyanta has completed his master’s in Environmental and Resource Management and is a doctoral candidate on International Environmental Law since 2023 with the BTU Cottbus. During his studies, Niyanta completed internships with UNFCCC and UNU-FLORES and has worked as a consultant with the UNCCD and One Resilient Earth gGmbH.
