Dr Reinhard Messerschmidt

Reinhard Messerschmidt has been working in the PtX Lab Lausitz in the team of its head since 2026. He contributes to internal projects related to knowledge management and cross-sectional research for the Think and Do Tank.

Before joining the Lausitz laboratory, he worked as a digitalization expert at the science policy interface at the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU). Additionally, he contributed to interdisciplinary research projects at the Helmholtz Open Science Office, at GESIS – Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences, and at the Cologne Center for eHumanities.

Born in Rostock, he obtained a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Cologne after completing a Master's degree in Sociology and Philosophy at the University of Rostock. He held scholarships at the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School for the Humanities Cologne and at the European Doctoral School of Demography (EDSD) at INED Paris. He was also a fellow at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) in Bochum.
