21/11/2024 Representation of the State of Brandenburg to the EU Event

Conference in Brussels "eSAF: Unlocking the Industrial Potential of Regions in Transition"

This event examines the current state of eSAF production in Europe, with a focus on Brandenburg's role as a pioneer in the climate-neutral transformation of aviation.

As the aviation industry seeks ways to drastically reduce its emissions, hydrogen-based green technologies are coming to the forefront as a key solution for climate-neutral aviation. In particular, electricity-based Sustainable Aviation Fuels (eSAF) have the potential to replace fossil fuels in aviation, thereby helping the industry achieve its ambitious climate goals. However, the market ramp-up of eSAF faces significant challenges, particularly regarding the regulatory framework needed for successful scaling.

Brandenburg is considered a pioneer in the climate-neutral transformation of the aviation industry and exemplifies how regions affected by structural change can leverage their potential.

In partnership with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor, and Energy (MWAE) of Brandenburg, we are bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and associations on 21 November 2024 in Brussels.

The goal of the event is to discuss the opportunities for regions in transition, especially using Brandenburg as an example. It will also address the regulatory measures that need to be established at the European level to fully harness the potential of eSAF for achieving climate neutrality.

Key Topics

  • What regulatory obstacles exist in the market ramp-up?
  • How can the competitiveness of eSAF be ensured in the long term?
  • How can we ensure that industrial transformation regions benefit from the development of new technologies while strengthening their industrial base?

These and other questions will be the focus of the conference titled "eSAF: Unlocking the Industrial Potential of Regions in Transition." Furthermore, present experts will offer actionable recomendations on advancing toward a sustainable, climante-neutral future for the aviation industry.
