Panel Discussion in Brussels: How to Make eSAF Bankable in Europe

The PtX Lab Lausitz is discussing with representatives from politics, business, finance and civil society in Brussels how to drive forward the market ramp-up for eSAF.

Expectations are high for the European Union to establish an efficient market for synthetic aviation fuel (eSAF). The ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation sent a strong political signal – but so far, crucial investments in production capacity have been lacking. At this panel discussion, we would like to present new opportunities and creative financing instruments to close this gap.

Together with its patron, Dr Christian Ehler, member of the European Parliament (MEP), the PtX Lab Lausitz invites stakeholders from politics, business, finance and civil society to participate in the event in Brussels on 2 December 2025.

The dialogue will bring together senior representatives from EU institutions, financial actors, industry and civil society. It will explore how existing and upcoming EU financing frameworks - including the forthcoming Sustainable Transport Investment Package (STIP) - can best drive investment and improve the bankability of eSAF projects in Europe.

To this end, the PtX Lab Lausitz will present and critically discuss innovative, complementary financing concepts developed to overcome investment barriers and unlock final investment decisions for first-of-a-kind eSAF production facilities.

Are you interested in attending the event? Please send us – we will check whether participation is possible.

Topics in focus

  • How can existing market barriers for eSAF be overcome?
  • Where are the biggest financing gaps today?
  • What instruments and models could accelerate the ramp-up of eSAF in Europe?
