Synthetic jet fuel (e-kerosene) plays a decisive role in aviation in order to achieve the goal of climate neutrality by 2050 in Europe. Critical metals and minerals are needed to synthesise e-kerosene. The PtX Lab Lausitz and DECHEMA e.V. are jointly conducting a study on this topic to determine the type and total amount of resources required to produce synthetic kerosene and to meet international demand in the aviation sector.
In the online seminar entitled "Demand and availability of resources for greenhouse gas-neutral production of power-to-liquid kerosene", we present the background to our study: The relevant research questions, the work objectives and the challenges in assessing the required resources.
