Future from CO₂: PtX Lab Lausitz presents innovative approaches at nova-Institute conference
As a player for sustainable transformation, the PtX Lab Lausitz is actively involved in the nova-Institute's CO₂-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference 2025. This important international event will take place from 29 to 30 April 2025 at the Maternushaus in Cologne and will be held both on site and online.
The nova-Institute conference has established itself as a unique meeting place for experts in the fields of carbon capture and utilisation (CCU), green hydrogen production and power-to-X.
In its 13th edition, the conference expects over 230 leading international experts to present and discuss the latest innovations and developments in these fast-growing fields.
PtX Lab Lausitz provides impetus for sustainable CO₂-based production processes
The Lusatian Think and Do Tank will present its work in the field of climate-neutral fuels and chemicals on site and network with national and international players. The focus will be on the transformation of the chemical industry towards sustainable, CO₂-based production processes.
A special item on the programme: Lukas Horndasch, speaker at the PtX Lab Lausitz, will hold a poster pitch session entitled "Crack the Crackers - Thinking Beyond a Cracker-centered Chemical Production in Europe ’ on 29 April at 4:25 pm. In it, he will show how the structure of the chemical industry must change in the long term in order to be compatible with the energy transition and new raw material flows.
Interview with PtX Lab Lausitz: The importance of CCU and PtX technologies
The Cottbus Competence Centre is also represented in the current Conference Journal with an interview. Under the title "CCU Pioneers - Keeping Carbon Circular ’, Lukas Horndasch and Dr Irina Akhmetova provide exciting insights into their work.
They explain how CO₂ can be used as a raw material for power-to-liquid fuels and what role PtX technologies play for a circular carbon economy in Europe. They also emphasise the need to drive forward political framework conditions and technological innovations to enable this transformation.
