PtX Lab Lausitz discusses strategies for securing critical raw materials and makes recommendations for a sustainable raw materials strategy in Europe.
Renewable energies and basic materials such as rare earths, metals and minerals form the basis for numerous technologies in the energy sector and the mobility industry. In view of high import dependencies and growing global demand – exacerbated by digitalisation and the energy transition – securing and sustainably utilising these resources is becoming increasingly important. How can supply chains be made resilient? And are there strategies for reducing material requirements?
These and other questions will be addressed in PtX Lab Talk #17, entitled “Securing Critical Raw Materials for Green Fuels and Basic Materials of Tomorrow”, on 23 April 2026 from 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm.
In addition, experts from the Section PtX Basic Materials of the PtX Lab Lausitz will provide concrete recommendations for action to secure critical raw materials and propose ideas for a sustainable raw materials strategy in Europe.
Building on current EU initiatives such as the Critical Raw Materials Act and the REPowerEU Action Plan, the PtX Lab Briefing ‘Securing Critical Raw Materials for Green Chemicals’ sets out strategies for green power and basic materials (Power-to-Liquids, PtL). It will be published as part of the digital event.
