Call for Papers launched: Workshop highlights economic aspects of sustainable aviation fuels

The joint workshop of GARS, airliners.de and the PtX Lab Lausitz is entering the submission phase and invites you to help shape the dialogue on the aviation of tomorrow
The call for papers for the workshop "The Economics of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF)" is open. The workshop will take place on 25/26 March 2026 on the premises of the PtX Lab Lausitz in Cottbus and is dedicated to central economic issues relating to sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).
The workshop is jointly organised by the German Aviation Research Society (GARS), a scientific network for the promotion of aviation research, and airliners.de, the leading German-language specialist portal for the aviation industry. Together with the PtX Lab Lausitz, the partners are creating a platform for dialogue between research and business.
Invitation to join the Workshop
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Cost drivers and techno-economic assessments of SAF pathways
- Economic impacts and net benefits of SAF-related regulations and subsidies
- Market-based measures and pricing strategies to accelerate SAF demand
- Supply chain economics and infrastructure needs for SAF adoption and production
- Book and Claim chain of custody for SAF certification as market enabler
- Innovative financing and de-risking mechanisms for SAF production
The aim of the workshop is to bring together research and practice and discuss current findings on the further development of the SAF market.
Call for Papers
You are warmly invited to submit your contribution in the form of an abstract (approx. 300 words) and a short CV to Tolga Ülkü (tolga.uelkue@iu.org) by 31 December 2025. You will be informed of the acceptance decisions in due course.
