PtX Lab Lausitz and the Competence Centre on Climate Change Mitigation in Energy-Intensive Industries (KEI) have been named “Attractive Employers 2024” by EGC Wirtschaftsförderung Cottbus.
On 10 October, EGC Wirtschaftsförderung Cottbus awarded the title ‘Attractive Employer 2024’ to Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) – twice. With the PtX Lab Lausitz and the Competence Centre on Climate Change Mitigation in Energy-Intensive Industries (KEI), both of ZUG's Lusatian divisions emerged successfully from the competition. The award ceremony took place at the ‘Bunter Bahnhof Cottbus’. Dr Harry Lehmann, head of PtX, and Dr Irina Akhmetova accepted the award on behalf of the company. A total of 35 companies from the region received awards.
ZUG managing director Stefan Demuth said of the honour: ‘The name ZUG stands for first-class working conditions – in Lusatia too. We are delighted that this has been officially confirmed by the Cottbus Economic Development Agency. My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who contributes to this every day: managers, employees and committees. As a company, we invest a great deal of energy in creating attractive conditions for our employees. And we are consciously pursuing this path. After all, we can only achieve our goals if we attract and retain good employees. We will therefore continue to work hard together to earn this award time and again.’
Special prize for diversity
In addition to the ‘Attractive Employer 2024’ award, the PtX Lab Lausitz also received the ‘Special Prize for Diversity’, which was awarded for the first time. The jury's decision was based, among other things, on the large number of different nationalities represented in the team. The jury also highlighted the wide range of working time models and the diversity in terms of age, origin and education as worthy of an award. ‘The PtX Lab Lausitz is particularly committed to promoting diversity and integration in the workplace,’ said the judges.
About the competition
All companies based in the city of Cottbus were eligible to enter. As part of the application process, the participants answered questions in writing and received the jury on site during a tour of the company. The evaluation was based on a transparent catalogue of criteria.
The jury is made up of representatives from, among others, the Cottbus Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Cottbus Chamber of Crafts, the DGB Südbrandenburg, the Cottbus Federal Employment Agency, the Brandenburg Economic Development Corporation and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg. The competition, now in its eighth year, was held in 2024. According to the organising Economic Development Corporation Cottbus, it is intended to ‘send an important signal with prospects for employees to stay and return’ to Cottbus.
