At the PtX Lab Talk on June 1, 2023, experts outlined the increasing importance of PtX plants for stabilizing the energy system.
Protecting the climate and the environment makes it necessary to fundamentally restructure our energy system. Renewable energies are indispensable for this. At present, they are still a scarce resource and will have to be greatly expanded in the coming years. The actual demand for electricity does not always coincide with the fluctuating generation of renewable electrical energy. It is therefore all the more important to use the sustainably generated energy efficiently - also in PtX plants.
The use of electrolysers to produce green hydrogen must be energy-saving. This means that green hydrogen should be produced when the sun and wind supply sufficient electrical energy regionally. But can PtX plants use storage to absorb energy and release it as needed? Can the byproducts of hydrogen production also be used to serve the grid? And what does the current regulation of green hydrogen mean for the realization of PtX plants? These and other questions were addressed by the latest edition of the PtX Lab Talk on June 1, 2023. Almost 80 participants* took part in the sixth edition of the digital exchange format.

Future events
We thank all participants for their interest and contributions. The next PtX Lab Talk will take place on 07.09.2023. We will discuss the topic "Sticks or carrots against climate change? What can we learn from the EU Green Deal Industrial Plan and the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)?".
