The PtX Lab Lausitz competence center, together with KEI and CDI, is in dialogue with economic policymakers, industry and industry associations.
The Hannover Messe, the annual meeting place for companies from the mechanical engineering, electrical and digital industries, as well as the energy industry, once again attracted thousands of interested visitors to the capital of Lower Saxony from 31 March to 4 April 2025.
For the first time, the PtX Lab Lausitz team took the opportunity to exchange ideas on the transformation of the industry with representatives from industry, politics and industry associations on all days of the fair.
Also at the joint stand of the Brandenburg Economic Development Corporation (WFBB) in Hall 13: the team from the Competence Centre on Climate Change Mitigation in Energy-Intensive Industries (KEI), another division of the Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGmbH and the Cluster Decarbonisation in Industries (CDI).
In conversation with the Secretary of State and Minister at the opening of the Hannover Messe 2025
At the start of the fair, Michael Kellner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK), visited the joint stand. He discussed the latest projects, challenges and ideas for solving important future issues with Dr Harry Lehmann, head of PtX Lab Lausitz, and KEI head Jakob Flechtner.
Dr Beate Baron, head of the department for industrial policy at BMWK, was informed about the status of the federal funding for industry and climate protection (BIK) and current study projects. Among other things, the focus was on the question of how industry can become more ecological and climate-friendly without compromising on efficiency and sustainability. In the long term, PtX products offer an important climate-friendly alternative to fossil fuels and base materials.

To remain competitive, attractive conditions for investment in PtX must be created. Sustainability is not a cost factor, but a competitive advantage.
The teams from the Lusatian centres of excellence also welcomed Daniel Keller, Brandenburg's Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Protection (MWAE), to the WFBB joint stand. He gathered specific information about news from PtX Lab Lausitz, industry trends and ideas from experts on how Brandenburg can become a pioneering region for the hydrogen economy.

About the Hannover Messe
With 4,000 exhibitors and around 1,600 speakers on various conference stages, the Hannover Messe once again proved itself to be the world's leading industrial fair. A total of around 127,000 guests from more than 150 countries discussed future-oriented topics such as CO₂-neutral production, hydrogen and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in industry. Almost half of the guests came from abroad – particularly from China, South Korea and Japan, as well as the Netherlands and Poland. There was also a strong presence from the partner country Canada. Next year's Hannover Messe will take place from 20 to 24 April 2026.
