Ideas for the promotion of more environmentally-friendly aviation were presented in a panel with Economy Minister Steinbach, MEP Ehler (member of the European parliament), experts and visitors.
The ILA in Berlin, which acts as a venue for the global aerospace industry every two years, focusses on innovation, new technologies and sustainability. This focus at this year’s event under the motto "Pioneering Aerospace", was on how civil aviation can become climate-neutral. The PtX Lab Lausitz team was represented as an exhibitor from 5 to 9 June 2024, this time at the shared stand of the Economic Development Agency Brandenburg (WFBB).
During the ILA, the employees presented current projects and publications, including issues papers, films and the recently published study “Book & Claim für grünes Kerosin: Handel mit Zertifikaten für eine klimaneutrale Luftfahrt” (English version to be published soon). Sebastian Voswinckel, Deputy Director of PtX Lab Lausitz, first took part in the ILA Stage Aviation Future Lab panel on 7 June. The topic of the expert panel was “From Berlin to Aerospace - Hightech from the capital region”. In the afternoon, he gave a lecture entitled “A roadmap for climate-neutral aviation” at the shared WFBB stand.

The PtX Lab Lausitz stand was also visited by Brandenburg's Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy (MWAE), Prof. Dr. Jörg Steinbach, on the first day of the trade fair. He exchanged ideas with the think-and-do tank employees and gathered information about the latest projects. Steinbach emphasised: “One of the major challenges in the years to come will be to become more energy-efficient, ecological and climate-friendly without having to make compromises in terms of safety and range in aviation.”
Dr. Christian Ehler was also impressed by the Lab's innovative and sustainable approach and was informed about the challenges and goals of the Lab in a discussion with Dr. Harry Lehmann, Director of PtX Lab Lausitz, and Anita Demuth, Deputy Director of PtX Lab. Late on Friday afternoon, Hendrik Fischer, State Secretary at the MWAE, made use of his tour of the trade fair to briefly visit the PtX Lab stand.
