What emissions trading brings for maritime transport

At the PtX Lab Talk on March 23, experts outlined the prospects for synthetic fuels in shipping.

From 2024, the EU will extend the scope of its emissions trading system ETS to include maritime transport. For the first time, ship emissions will have a price tag. This step is also intended to stimulate a turning point in this sector: away from fossil energy sources and toward sustainable synthetic fuels. Are the regulations sufficient to advance greenhouse gas neutrality in maritime transport? What else is needed? The latest edition of the PtX Lab Talk on March 23rd addressed these and other questions. More than 70 participants participated in our 5th edition of the digital exchange format.
