Power-to-X (PtX) in NetZero scenarios in the chemical industry
PtX Lab Facts | 06/2024 I Topic: Sustainable Chemistry I 4 Pages
The chemical industry contributes 5.5 percent to global greenhouse gas emissions. Around two percent, equivalent to 1.16 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2 eq), is generated directly during production and in the upstream supply chain. A further 1.46 to 2.79 gigatonnes of CO2 eq are generated during the use phase and at the end of the products' life cycle, mostly through combustion.
In order to achieve climate protection goals, the chemical industry must undergo fundamental change. The PtX Lab Facts Power-to-X (PtX) in NetZero scenarios in the chemical industry analyses possible transformation paths and scenarios for climate-neutral basic chemicals and shows what measures are necessary to achieve this.
