Lorena Tafur has been an expert at the PtX Lab Lausitz since January 2025, specializing in processes and technologies for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

Before joining the Lusatian Lab, she worked as a process engineer in the oil and gas industry, where she was responsible for the design and dimensioning of various upstream process facilities, gaining solid expertise in process control and simulation.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Colombia and a Master’s degree in Process, Energy, and Environmental Systems Engineering from TU Berlin. During her studies, she focused on energy systems and the integration of green hydrogen across different sectors.

Her master’s thesis evaluated the potential for green hydrogen imports to Germany using different hydrogen carriers.
