PtX Lab Talk #18: AgriPV and Green Hydrogen – A Double Yield for Lusatia

The PtX Lab Lausitz explores how sustainable energy generation concepts such as agri-photovoltaics and green hydrogen could turn Lusatia into a model region for climate-neutral energy sources.
Lausitz is in the midst of a profound transformation: the phase-out of lignite, increasing drought caused by the advancing climate crisis, and potential land-use conflicts arising from the expansion of renewable energies versus agriculture all call for new solutions.
How can the region safeguard agricultural land whilst simultaneously becoming a model region for climate-neutral energy sources?
PtX Lab Talk #18 entitled „Agri-PV und Grüner Wasserstoff – Doppelte Ernte für die Lausitz“ (AgriPV and Green Hydrogen – A Double Yield for Lusatia) , will take place on 25 June 2026 from 10.15 am to 11.45 am and invites participants to discuss this question together.
The focus is on an approach that combines two key future themes: Agri-photovoltaics (Agri-PV) uses agricultural land for food production and solar energy.
The electricity generated is used to produce green hydrogen and other Power-to-X (PtX) products, whilst agricultural production itself is hardly reduced – a promising building block for the region’s economic transformation.
One Event, Two Formats
The event is divided into two formats.
1. PtX Lab Talk #18 – hybrid
PtX Lab Talk #18 will be held in a hybrid format. Experts will give keynote presentations, which will be streamed online for all participants. A limited number of participants, having registered in advance, will have the opportunity to attend the Lab Talk in person at the PtX Lab Lausitz.
The topics of the keynote presentations cover the following areas:
- the potential of agri-PV in Lusatia
- economic classification of agri-PV systems
- social acceptance of agri-PV systems compared to ground-mounted systems and wind farms
- an overview of the energy system in Lusatia
Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion with the experts present.
2. Exchange and networking event – on-site.
The subsequent exchange and networking meeting is exclusively for registered participants. It will take place immediately after PtX Lab Talk #18 at the PtX Lab Lausitz premises in Cottbus.
The focus is on networking and practical application: in an open discussion format, participants and experts will discuss specific use cases, opportunities for cooperation and project ideas.
