Lecture evening on sustainable aviation fuels focuses on greenhouse gas-neutral flying.
Sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) can significantly reduce the climate impact of air transport. They are produced without fossil feedstocks such as petroleum and fulfil additional sustainability criteria. Currently, synthetic fuels made from green hydrogen are the most promising option for greenhouse gas-neutral flying. The "aireg - Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany e.V." is campaigning for their increased production and use. The PtX Lab Lausitz, in turn, is promoting the market ramp-up of these sustainable fuels.
In the "Webinar on Sustainable Aviation I Ptl Production: Sustainability and Plant Design", aireg and PtX Lab Lausitz are once again pooling their synergies with regard to the defossilisation of aviation. In two presentations, Anita Demuth and Dr. Sebastian Voswinckel, both deputy directors of the PtX Lab Lausitz, will focus on the climate goals of the aviation industry. The free webinar will take place online on Tuesday, 17 October 2023, from 6-7 pm (UTC+2).
Anita Demuth will present the PtL sustainability standard for air transport of the PtX Lab Lausitz and go into the background and motivation for developing this standard. Afterwards, Dr. Sebastian Voswinckel will present the current status on the planning and construction of the PtL demonstration plant in Lausitz. Considered together, both presentations combine the development and subsequent practical implementation of the sustainability standards of the PtX Lab Lausitz as a contribution to a speedy SAF market ramp-up. Thus, it is not only important to identify particularly favourable production routes. An important addition is to research and demonstrate how PtL fuels can be produced in a particularly sustainable manner.
The orientation of the work of the PtX Lab Lausitz offers great overlap with the efforts of the aireg: in order to achieve the climate targets, production capacities must be ramped up as quickly as possible, but this must not be at the expense of other sustainability dimensions.

You can register for the online event free of charge via the aireg website (external link). All participants will receive the dial-in data in advance.
About aireg
The organisation "aireg - Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany e.V." is committed to the increased production and use of renewable energy sources in aviation. It was founded in 2011 by airlines, airports, research institutions and companies in the aviation industry and in raw materials supply and processing. The PtX Lab Lausitz has been a member of the aireg since June 2022.
