Becoming smarter overnight with PtX Lab Lausitz

PtX Lab Lausitz showed interested visitors at the 17th Nacht der kreativen Köpfe how hydrogen is shaping the future.
On the evening of 11 October 2025, Cottbus was transformed into a vibrant city of discovery at the 17th Night of Creative Minds (Nacht der kreativen Köpfe, NdkK) under the motto ‘Intelligence and Emotions’. Around 6,000 visitors took advantage of the diverse range of experiments, hands-on activities and guided tours at more than 20 locations.
For the first time, the PtX Lab Lausitz was also represented with its own stand and provided exciting insights into the world of Power-to-X (PtX) technologies. Guests were able to test their knowledge of sustainability, renewable energies and PtX applications with a digital quiz – and as a small reward, they received information materials and PtX pencils to jot down their own ideas for the future.
A model illustrated the production process for sustainable fuels and raw materials, which the PtX team explained in detail on site with the aid of a simplified electrolyser. Visitors of all ages learned how climate-friendly fuels are produced – and that there are still a number of milestones to be achieved on the road to CO₂-neutral air and sea transport and a sustainable chemical industry.
Working together for knowledge and innovation
The PtX Lab Lausitz was located on the ground floor of the Cottbus Information, Communication and Media Centre (IKMZ). Together with the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), the Lausitz Science Park and the Energy Innovation Centre (EIZ), the Lausitz Competence Centre offered a wide range of hands-on activities and opportunities for dialogue. Over 200 bright minds learned about the PtX Lab Lausitz projects and discussed the future of climate-neutral technologies.
The Night of Creative Minds 2025 was a powerful catalyst for networking, inspiration and knowledge transfer in Cottbus – a night in which intelligence and emotion were not separated, but became visible together.
