The 2nd Florence Aviation Regulation Conference seeks solutions for the mobility of the future through in-depth scientific exchange and constructive discussions.
On 11 July 2025, PtX Lab Lausitz participated in the 2nd Florence Aviation Regulation Conference der Florence School of Regulation (FSR). The conference focused on current and future regulatory and economic issues in aviation. The aim is to develop practical solutions through academic exchange.
This year's presentations and discussions focused on developments at airports, emission avoidance through instruments such as the European Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and the future of mobility.
The interdisciplinary discourse with international experts promotes the further development of political solutions and ensures that these are based on a solid scientific foundation in order to prevent undesirable developments.
How regulations promote the production and use of e-fuels
Felix Schmermer, aviation expert, represented PtX Lab Lausitz at the event. In his presentation and subsequent debates, he shared the knowledge and perspectives of the Cottbus competence centre on non-CO2 effects and possible regulatory approaches, such as the use of SAF. The focus was on the regulatory gaps that still exist in the avoidance of non-CO2 effects.
