Oliver Ziegler is a mechanical engineer, has been an expert at the PtX Lab Lausitz since October 2022 and previously worked as a research assistant at TU Dresden.

He therefore has broad expertise in the fields of thermal energy technology, plant engineering, techno-economic evaluation and sector coupling as well as expertise in the acquisition and management of R&D projects with stakeholders from science, industry and administration.

Through his previous career as an officer, in which he was responsible for the leadership and training of junior leaders in the German Armed Forces, he has expertise in the areas of education, communication and leadership.

Due to his interdisciplinary background, the focus of his work in the Lab is not only on coordinating working groups and projects in the energy technology field of PtX/PtL plants and direct air capture, but also in interdisciplinary areas such as concepts for operating large-scale PtX facilities, circular-carbon-economy, resource utilisation, the electricity market and general (political) consulting.

Through his memberships in the DKV e.V. (German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association), the DECHEMA Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology e.V. and the CDU (Christian Democratic Party of Germany), he is also well networked in the fields of science, industry and politics outside the PtX Lab.
