We are looking for young researchers and great explorers: at the 18th Nacht der kreativen Köpfe, the PtX Lab Lausitz invites families to marvel, get involved and discover how the energy of tomorrow is created
On 10 October 2026, Cottbus will once again become a showcase for ideas, innovation and science: at the 18th Nacht der kreativen Köpf (NdkK). Between 6 pm and midnight, around 20 companies, universities and institutions will open their doors and offer visitors a glimpse into their work.
The PtX Lab Lausitz is taking part for the second time and this year’s theme, „Energy and Change", fits perfectly with what guests can expect at our stand: We will be demonstrating how energy can be harnessed from wind and sun, and how modern technologies can be used to turn this into the fuels of the future – explained in an engaging way, with hands-on activities for the whole family.
The Potential Atlas Shows where Lusatia Can Generate the Energy of Tomorrow
In collaboration with Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, the PtX Lab Lausitz has identified where the sun and wind are strongest in the Lausitz region: on rooftops, car parks, fields and even on lakes. The team has compiled the results into an interactive potential atlas that invites users to explore: anyone who wishes to can find out where wind turbines or large solar farms could be sited in their own local area and can contribute their ideas directly at the stand.
Something to Marvel at and Get Involved in: An Electrolysis Cell Model and a Quiz
Bring along your little researchers and budding explorers: our bubbling mini power station, a model of a PEM electrolyser, offers plenty for children to marvel at and learn about. Whilst the kids experience exciting technology up close, we will explain to parents and adults – without any technical jargon – how the fuels of the future are produced.
What is more, young and old alike can test their knowledge of sustainable energy in a digital quiz.
Whether you are a toddler, a pupil or an interested adult: we look forward to hearing your curious questions and seeing the sparkle in your eyes at our stand.
Do come along and join us in discovering our region’s innovativeness. See you at the Nacht der kreativen Köpfe! The PtX Lab Lausitz is located on the ground floor of the Cottbus Information, Communication and Media Centre (IKMZ).
